RUNNERS UP

Willunga's Daniel Bass has taken out the 2019 Mail Medal with 26 votes, ahead of McLaren's Brett Ellis (24) and Langhorne Creek's James Sellar (24).

It caps off two seasons of highly consistent football for Bass who has been an integral piece of Willunga's form in 2019.

The mobile ruckman reliably gives his fellow Demon on-ballers first look at the footy, and is exemplary in his follow up work.

Upon his acceptance of the medal from the Sunday Mail's Scott Walsh, Bass thanked the Willunga Football Club, its supporters and his fellow players for what he described as some recent years of great football.

He also laid down the gauntlet for this weekend's Semi-Final, saying he strongly believed the Demons could go all the way in 2019.

It will be a clash to behold during Saturday's match when he battles it out with runner-up James Sellar, in the much-anticipated Willunga versus Creek showdown.

Sellar might have pushed his case for the Medal last Wednesday night, had he not recently missed matches due to overseas travel, after having a comparably consistent season to Bass.

McLaren's Brett Ellis led the count for a large portion of the night, but it was Bass who polled most strongly in the second half of the season.
