Andrew Woolford
Came to the WFC from Sturt Football Club in 1980 because his employer transferred him to Willunga. Fortunately, Chris Roberts was at Sturt at the time and explained where Willunga was.
Played his first game for Willunga against Morphett Vale in Southern Football League Division 1 on 21st June 1980. Played 85 club games plus 3 “A” grade Association Matches in the SFL and played in the 1984 SFL Premiership.
After we transferred to the GSFL Andy played in the 1986, 1988 GSFL Premierships.
While he was playing “A” grade he also coached U16 in SFL in 1985 and U17 in GSFL 1986 as well as the GSFL Senior Colts Association side for two years.
In 1986 he was elected Treasurer and performed that role for 5 Seasons.
He was a consistent member of the “A” grade and played every year until 1993. In 1993 he transferred to Old Ignatius Football Club and came back the following year. He broke a rib early in the season and only played three games to conclude his playing career on
Aug 20th, 1994 after having played a total of 225 Senior games for Willunga Football Club
He stayed on to coach Willunga Reserves, which he managed to top up with Southern District cricketers and took them to a Premiership in 1995 and 3rd spot in 1996.
