Barry J Pilmore
Barry Pilmore
In 1976 there was a young man who was looking for somewhere to play Senior Colts footy because his club did not have that grade. He only played for Willunga for 1 season, but he managed to play all 17 games, kicked 14 goals and won the Most Consistent Award when he polled 3rd in the club medal count.
He went back to his old club, Noarlunga, to continue an illustrious playing career but we managed to get him back in 2003 for the start of an extraordinary period in our Club’s history.
Barry Pilmore coached Willunga “A” grade for 12 consecutive years equalling Frank Aldam’s tenure at the helm.
He was probably the first person to coach the side to four consecutive flags, and in Season 2008 was definitely the first to coach the team to five consecutive premierships.
That year the Club’s 56-year-old record of five consecutive premierships in a row was matched.
Then in 2009 he coached the Club to a record sixth consecutive “A” grade Premiership Flag.
In the twelve years that Barry coached Willunga Football Club his team played in finals every year and recorded 6 Premierships from 9 Grand Final appearances.
Barry also has many GSFL Association, Zone and State Football coaching credits
