Demons in lockdown!

Currently like all of football we sit in lockdown! Following the direction from above we've been forced to postpone our attack on the GSFL 2020 season!

As a club and football department we worked super hard to put together a list of players that were hopefully going to propel us that one step higher than last years result on GF day!

We added some high quality players in Myles Warmington and former junior and all round good guy Brian Fenton! We were fortunate to have players return like Danny Irvine and Tom Allen after a few years away from the club and most excitingly, had a crop of young lads who boast enthusiasm and ability come out of the under 17s who reinvigorated the senior players within the group!

We worked hard on our fitness and ball movement throughout the entire preseason and our Internal trial showed some really promising signs! Things were shaping well and the group was really positive about our position moving into the trial phase of 2020! We currently are not training as a group but many players are still doing their own fitness work and this will continue to be monitored and encouraged as we work through an extended period of separation!

The current circumstances surrounding 2020 are unknown, with a potential start date of June 20 for a 9 round season plus finals if all things go well! Lets hope for many more reasons than just football that we're able to play some footy in the 2nd half of the year!

I personally want to thank everyone involved at the WFC for making the start of this season so enjoyable! We're a very lucky club with regards to hands on deck, i hope we get the chance to reward that effort with some football in Season 2020!

Until next time, wash your hands!

Mitch Portlock!
